Speculation and food prices

Two interesting recent articles attributing recent food price spikes to market speculation in commodity futures:

Interestingly, first-generation biofuels largely get a free pass in their assessment.

    Initially I was sceptical that this was playing an important role, but I’m starting to be convinced. There is a nice graph here that illustrates trends but again, correlation isn’t causation..
